“The Wyoming Center for Nursing is committed to creating a culture of health that promotes the development of a diverse health care workforce by transforming nursing education, advancing the health of individuals, and improving communities through fostering collaborative partnerships.”
The Wyoming Center for Nursing (WCN) was created by a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Partners in Nursing grant in 2008. It has formed an active and strong Advisory Board with a range of constituents that have come together to improve nursing retention and recruitment, educational capacity, and to build consensus on nursing issues in the State of Wyoming.
The WCN advisory board has been an organization of dedicated individuals working to improve the health care of Wyoming’s citizens. After 4 years of work it was time to formalize the advisory board operations. A strategic map, organization chart, committee descriptions, and operating principles were adopted. This included the election of new officers, Chair Mary Behrens, Vise Chair Jeanine Niemoller, and Secretaries Melanie Pearce and Michaela Walker-Hettinger. Please see the organization structure documents below.
