Casper College offers an Associate of Applied Science and Associate of Science in Nursing. The facility is modern and includes classrooms equipped for multimedia presentations and numerous labs with up-to-date equipment. Specialized equipment includes SimMan, a mannequin that can be programmed to allow students to practice a wide range of medical situations. The multimedia computer lab features interactive software that allows students to obtain hands on experience from vital signs to CathSim to the NCLEX-RN.

The purpose of the program is to prepare students to function as providers and managers of care within the discipline of nursing. The program further assists students in the utilization of the nursing process and a self-care model to guide nursing care of individuals, families, and groups.

Eastern Wyoming College offers a nursing transfer program; meaning that coursework can be applied to participating schools towards a Bachelor’s Degree. Laramie County Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing. LCCC helps students with requirements that are specific to the nursing program while preparing students for the commitment they will be faced with once they enter the nursing program.

Northern Wyoming Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing. Students at NWCC are educated in both classroom and clinical settings. Gillette College campus and Sheridan College campus both offer the associate degree program with an optional Practical Nursing (certificate) exit after the first year. The associate degree nursing program prepares students to function as RNs in providing care to clients with complex health care needs.
Through an agreement with the University of Wyoming student’s can obtain a BSN on the Sheridan campus.

Northwest College’s nursing program offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree or Associate of Science Degree. A Practical Nurse and Registered Nurse licensure exam preparation is available at NWC. Nursing has its own building with new instructional technology including pod and vod-casting options to support student learning anytime, anyplace. Students expand their course learning through clinical placements in multiple hospitals, clinics, and patient care locations. High technology laboratory experiences also add to student preparations.
- BSN-RN Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) is a 4 year program offered at universities that prepares students to practice across all health care settings. A BSN is preferred and often required for military nursing, case management, public health nursing, overseas/development nursing, forensic nursing and public school nursing.
- 2nd Degree The University of Wyoming offers an accelerated 2nd Baccalaureate degree in nursing for students who have already earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. The program is delivered on-line with periodic visits to campus, making it possible for a student to get an education without relocation. The degree takes 15 months to complete.
- PMHNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner’s (PMHNP) are advanced practice registered nurses who provide a full range of psychiatric care. PMHNP’s have the ability to assess, diagnose, manage, and prescribe psychotropic medications for patients with chronic and acute psychiatric disorders.
- FNP Family Nurse Practitioner’s (FNP) serve as primary care providers across a patient’s life span both in illness and health. FNPs have advanced practice knowledge and clinical skills, including providing family-planning services, well-child care, obtaining health histories and performing physical examinations, diagnosing, treating and monitoring acute and chronic illness, performing and interpreting diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and promote of healthy lifestyles.
- Nurse Educator Nurse Educators teach in undergraduate nursing programs and continuing education settings. Educators demonstrate leadership in the implementation and evaluation of educational programs. This includes assessment of learning needs of students, planning educational curricula, implementing educational methodologies, and evaluating both student learning and program outcomes.
- PhD/DNP Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) are generally educators and researchers. A PhD is required when applying for tenure track positions at a college or university. A PhD generally takes 2 to 3 years of full time studies after a master’s degree. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a practice-focused doctoral education degree. A DNP functions and operates much like a nurse practitioner. They have prescriptive authority and often operate their own primary care clinics. DNP’s complete more coursework hours and clinical training than a Nurse Practitioner.
The University of Wyoming offers a Bachelor’s of Science Nursing (BSN) degree along with Masters in Nursing Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The University has two additional options for earning a BSN outside of the traditional 4 year track. Student’s that already hold an associate’s degree are eligible for the RN/ BSN program. For those with a Bachelor’s outside of nursing and wanting a career change, the University offers an accelerated, 18 month 2nd Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing through the BRAND program. Many of the nursing degree’s offered are available on campus or through the UW outreach school to accommodate distance learners.
The School of Nursing is currently in the process of developing a Doctor of Nurse Practice program.

Western Wyoming Community College nursing program offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree. WWCC uses technology to assist preparing students for practice. Simulation mannequins and other technology give the students the opportunity to practice complex nursing procedure in a safe environment. All nursing exams are computerized, which prepares the students to take the national licensing exam. Portions of the program are on-line, allowing students experiences with distance collaboration.
